The first full week back at the gym

The first full week back at the gym, is in the books. Definitely didn’t break any records but I’m starting to feel like myself again…

Still keeping things lite as far as weight department goes. I have done some squatting, some flat bench and some overhead press this week. I have moved the compound lifts to the end of the work outs to ensure that I am properly warmed up after doing a ton of machine / isolation movements. Like I said, no records will be broken at this point using 50% of my old max lifts. The heavy barbell movements take more of a toll on the joints and CNS. This gives them a ‘2 factor’ recovery aspect to consider when doing them. So no 5 x 5 yet, I have been doing 8 x 6 x 4 x 3 x 2 thing. I just don’t have the work capacity built up ATM, to recover from a 5 x 5. No dead lifts yet, I am just way too beat up by the end of the week to start that lift again. I may put it back into the rotation next week or the week after.

A good week for me, happy I didn’t get hurt. The next couple weeks will be better.

How do you get the veins to come?

August 16, 2020

Hey there, thanks for the comment / question. Honestly, its all about body fat percentage and how “thin skinned” you are. Also, the vascularity / amount of veins and how they look is something your born with. So in short, it comes down to diet and genetics.
